A Valley Of Balloons, Tea, Wine & Fantastic People

We transformed the Tea Club in Nowra into a valley of balloons, tea, wine and fantastic people to shoot a music video for my track, ‘We All Keep On Marching,’ last Saturday and I still have a grin on my face.

Loading in a collection of music gear, refreshments and assorted props at 3pm I noticed that we’d been gifted with what was one of the most stunning days of the year. The Tea Club’s high walls, painted with vines and covered by chalkboards and what appears to be a vintage 1920’s bicycle, have become my musical home ground since my first show there five years ago.

We decked the stage with lights and the good part of a 100 pack of balloons and then squeezed in 6 musicians. The audience seats had been set up in a beautiful fashion, but there really was no need. The shoot begun and before me stood a beautiful variety of friends and music lovers: some I’d known for years, others I had just met and those who I would be talking to between my frantic ping-ponging across the backyard-like settings of the Tea Club.

Between what is best described as ‘too many’ versions of Marching, I churned out a few incredibly random covers, from INXS to The Backstreet Boys. The band and I also delivered unrehearsed versions of my originals and The White Stripes’ ‘Hotel Yorba’’.

To everybody who came or helped me on the day: thank you. Thanks’ for making my night so special, I hope you enjoyed the show.

Bennie James.

Upcoming dates.

Thursday 21st April - Otis Bar with Obscura Hail

I am super stoked to announce I’ll be returning to the trendiest venue in Wollongong, the Otis Bar, on Thursday 21st April. It’s the night before Good Friday, so even your boss/lecturer will be raven (yes, raven) with coming out and partying down.

It would be special if you could all get out and enjoy the night with me. The gigs are pretty rare at the moment so hoping to make them real events.

And yes, I’ll be buying you all easter eggs.

Saturday 21st May - Film Clip Shoot at The Tea Club

21st of May we’ll be heading to The Tea Club to shoot a music video for Bennie James track ‘We All Keep On Marching.’

The film clip is going to be all about style. I want you dressed in your Sunday best: suits, dresses, bow-ties…if it is classy I want you wearing it.

What have you got to do? Pretty much just be there, lookin’ fine. Act as natural as you can. If you want to dance, dance. If you want to talk over the top of everyone, do it! If you are a heckler, then heckle away. Just please, PLEASE, DON’T look at the camera! I can’t stress this point enough.

There will be a door list. Only people who are ‘attending’ on this page will be allowed inside and dressed appropriately. If you are a fan of ‘Bennie James’ on facebook, you are automatically invited :) So if you are not a fan yet, please become one.

This is practically a party guys. BYO booze (if you are under 18…don’t) and I’ll supply some foods for you as well. The Tea Club itself, however, will not be open for business.

First off, thank you to the community of Tumblr for leaving Bennie James available as a username.

Thanks so much for finding me here guys. I’m a 22year old musician, currently residing in Wollongong studying between writing, recording and playing the occasional show.

Now that I’ve joined Tumblr, you can find me on just about every social networking website that I’m aware of. Plus, I have my own website. Neat.

Cheers,

Bennie James.
